Modern homes are larger than what homes used to be two or three decades ago. They tend to be are a lot more cluttered too! A simple reason for this is our demand for things is much higher compared to the past. There are a lot of things that you can do to make the cleaning process easier and far lesser time-consuming. Let us have a look at some of them.
Dealing with things that come through your door
You can create a small area close to the main door of your home which will function as the landing strip. Things that come through the door land directly in this area. This simple step will help in significantly reducing the clutter at your home. Right from car keys, handbags to chargers, everything will land on the landing strip to reduce the clutter and keep things organized.
Do the dishes as soon as you are done with the meal
If you spend a lot of time cleaning the kitchen, this tip will make a world of a difference to you. Rather than waiting for multiple meals so that the dishwasher is full, wash the dishes as soon as you are done with a meal. This will lower the overall time that it takes to wash a full load of dishes.
Finish one load of laundry every day
Try to create a habit of putting one load of the laundry in the washer as soon as you wake up. While this will depend on the total number of loads you do weekly, it is a good habit to focus on starting the laundry in the beginning so you can concentrate on other tasks. If you have fewer loads of laundry throughout the week, you can do one load every alternate day.
Not every type of cleaning is equal. So, create a list of the things that you need to do and then start prioritizing them. Start with the things that you need to do right away, followed by the things that can wait for a day or two. You will be able to write out these realistic goals that you can finish within the time you have. Once these goals are achieved, you can then move on to other things.
Nightly family clean ups for a few minutes
Make a routine to do family clean-up for 10-15 minutes every night. While you can do it alone too, these minor tasks may seem less overwhelming when the entire family is involved. You can put a timer on and just focus on the priorities. You can do the laundry or kitchen, and kids can take care of their rooms or other minor chores. You can begin with things that are creating the most amount of clutter or the must-dos which should be done before you go to bed.
Cleaning throughout the day shouldn’t be overwhelming. We hope these tips can be good reminders on how to take each task and make it obtainable. For more tips and tricks, please check out our other posts throughout the website.
